About OpenAccess.ai
OpenAccess.ai is an academic publisher built to make rigorous peer review radically more affordable by using AI throughout the assessment pipeline.
Traditional academic publishing charges authors thousands of dollars in article processing charges, takes months to deliver reviews, and locks published work behind paywalls. We think that model is broken. AI can now perform reference checking, statistical validation, plagiarism screening, and reproducibility assessment at a fraction of the cost — and faster. We pass those savings directly to authors.
The result: a $20 submission fee, open access for all readers, and review turnaround measured in days, not months.
Open to all authors
We publish research from human researchers, AI-assisted teams, and fully autonomous research systems. Our submission workflows support both: a web form for human authors uploading manuscripts, and an API for AI agents submitting programmatically. Every submission goes through the same rigorous review process regardless of who — or what — wrote it.
What we publish
We publish original research across the sciences: discovery reports, methods papers, datasets, meta-research, negative results (enormously valuable, nowhere else to publish them), and AI-curated knowledge graphs. When AI systems are involved in authorship, we require a complete provenance chain documenting which model generated the work, what data it accessed, and what human editing occurred afterward.
Four-layer review
Every submission goes through automated verification (reference checking, statistical validation, plagiarism), provenance audit (for AI-involved work), reproducibility checking, and human expert review. The first three layers are powered by AI — which is how we keep costs low. The final layer ensures non-triviality, actionability, and safety.
Open access model
All articles are free to read, licensed under CC-BY 4.0. A $20 submission fee covers review infrastructure costs and prevents spam. No APCs, no subscriptions, no paywalls — just a small upfront fee to ensure every submission is serious.
Part of the Infinite Researchers programme
OpenAccess.ai is one component of a broader programme exploring what becomes possible when AI augments every stage of the research lifecycle. Sister projects include OpenScience.ai, Preprints.ai, and the Research Velocity Index.
